Hailed for invigorating the South African wine auction scene, the Cape Fine & Rare Wine Auction returns this year on 16 & 17 October showcasing South Africa’s exceptional and inspirational wine offerings.
Following in the footsteps of the original Nederburg Auction established in 1975, the exclusive and intimate Cape Fine & Rare Wine Auction will again be hosted at Stellenbosch’s iconic Rupert Museum in the heart of the Cape Winelands. In 2019, the invigorated auction resulted in energised and competitive bidding culminating in nearly R3 million in sales.
For wine enthusiasts and collectors, the Cape Fine & Rare Wine Auction encapsulates much more than raising your paddle: You’ll be afforded the opportunity to own a piece of South Africa’s wine history. The prestigious auction, an annual event on national and international wine calendars, offers bidders the unsurpassed opportunity to enjoy South Africa’s finest wines while in the presence of the Rupert Museums’ captivating modern art.
Bidders who register for this year’s anticipated event, are invited to an exclusive pre-auction tasting on 16 October 2020. Here, potential buyers are treated to an exclusive meet and greet with wine producers and influential industry professionals while tasting their way through more than 100 wine lots.
According to Suné van der Merwe, Auction Business Manager: “Last year’s auction showed the buying power and support of the local market. This year, we are excited to present the new format Cape Fine & Rare Wine Auction again, by presenting wines on a marketplace which reflects the collective excellence and collectability of South Africa’s wines and which emphasises the collective power of South Africa’s wine story.”
The Cape Fine & Rare Wine Auction, previously the Nederburg Auction, was established in 1975 and is South Africa’s most prestigious wine auction. The auction is a focal point of the South African fine and rare wine calendar and provides an excellent opportunity for both the novice and expert wine enthusiast to learn, meet like-minded people, socialise and enjoy a unique wine experience.
